Site and Server software upgrades!
Posted in General by MeEtc on January 19, 2009 07:44 GMT
Its been a LONG time since any releases have been made to the server software, but with great patience comes great changes. I have just finished upgrading YetAnotherSig.com to what will become revision 112 of the server software. Expect YASS Server 0.10.112 to be released within the next day or two. At the same time, an upgrade will be made available for existing installations of 0.9.95.
Upgrading will take only a matter of minutes as all the necessary changes will be applied automatically. The upgrade was designed for a vanilla install of YASS Server, so if you have made any changes, make sure to keep a backup. Assistance with custom upgrades can be requested on the Support page.
So, whats new in 112?
Most of what is new lies in the admin panel with the moderation tools. Most of these pages underwent at least 2 major revisions during coding. The feature I like the most (and took the most work to add into everything) is the logging ability. All administrative actions are logged into a new table, as well as notes on image items. Users and moderators can now send messages to each other and keep a running log of the message history.
Many other pages underwent minor changes. See the SubVersion revision logs for more info, I'm too lazy to write it all here. The SubVersion repository can be found at http://svn.meetcweb.com/yass_server
So whats next with the server then? There are still a number of features that are incomplete within the admin panel, namely with adding more moderators and image templates. They will be added for the next release. More than likely it will be numbered witha 1.0! At last!
Those changes will not be coming immediately however. I plan on switching my focus back to doing an overhaul of the client first. Stay tuned!
